Let Hope Rise
Last week, the City of Light was shrouded by darkness.
The world watched in dismay as terror took lives and horror haunted the streets of Paris.
Paris is a place that feels like home to me. It is a place I dearly love…filled with people I love even more.
So there was a deep heaviness in my heart as I watched the news.
There was a feeling of sadness and helplessness as I heard reports from my friends.
Yet in the midst of everything that happened last week in Paris, there is one thing that keeps coming into my mind and heart as I think about and pray about all that transpired:
Let Hope Rise!
As tragic and horrifying as these attacks were, I believe it can be an opportunity for the Church to be a source of peace, hope, restoration and reconciliation.
As heartbroken as I am over the lives lost, I believe that God can turn anything around…even this!
God is in the business of redemption!
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor. (Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV)
So Let Hope Rise, in Jesus name!
Would you join me in Praying for Paris? Join me in praying for the hearts and lives of those impacted by all of this. Join me in praying for redemption and reconciliation. Join me in praying for peace in the hearts of men and women across the Earth. But mostly, let’s pray that people would find Jesus, the Hope for humanity!
